2023: Buhari shuts down tenure extension moves, warn supporters

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday vowed to leave office on May 29, 2023.

The Nigerian leader swore by the Holy Qurโ€™an that he will serve in accordance with the constitution and go when his time is up.

โ€œTazarceโ€™ (tenure extension). I donโ€™t want anybody to start talking about and campaigning for an unconstitutional extension. I will not accept thatโ€, he said.

Buhari spoke at a meeting in Makkah with a select group of Nigerians resident in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia where he just ended a visit.

He gave assurances that in the balance of โ€œeighteen months or so of my time left, whatever I can do to improve the life of Nigerians, I will do it for the country.โ€

The President commended diaspora Nigerians in the Kingdom for representing the country well and projecting its good image.
