Insecurity: This is a moment for sober reflection – Cleric

By Jimoh Sulyman
A cleric has urged Nigerians to see the rate of insecurity in the country as a cause for concern and a time for sober reflection for the people most especially in regards to the recent occurrences in the country.
This was contained in the sermon delivered by the Chief Imam of Sheikh Muhammad Kamaldeen Central mosque, Imam Musa Mustapha Ateere on Friday, while addressing the congregation, in his Khutbah(sermon),before leading the congregants in the compulsory weekly two units prayer.
The Imam stressed that, the state of insecurity and economic nosedive is a cause for concern for every right thinking citizen of the country and a clarion call to the leaders to stand up to their responsibility.
Adding that, “This is the moment the country needs a good leadership to help sail the ship of the country through the troubled waters of insurgency and dire state of the economy plaguing the country.
“It is unfortunate that we have found ourselves in this state as a country, our plight is self inflicted due to our greed and selfishness, we need to change our ways and call on Allah to help restore the lost glory of the country” ,he said.
Ateere also charged the Muslims to endeavour not to displease Allah at any moment, despite knowing the repercussions, adding that “Allah will punish an intentional sinner the double of those that were unintentional.”
He admonished the public not to curse on the leaders because they will be the ones to suffer for it in the end, rather the populace should seek for Allah’s guidance for the leaders, in order to rule the country aright.
The Islamic Scholar stressed that, ” our individual and collective greed is definitely condemning the nation to damnation and it is only when we start thinking of others as we think of our selves that is when things will be better in this country.
“This is a time for us to desist from our evil ways and embrace selflessness ,we should understand that life is not all about us but it is the composition of everything that surround us ,be it human beings and animals”,he said
Ateere however admonished both the leadership and followership of Nigeria to work hand in hand as unit, to save the country from the mess the nation has found itself, because it takes a collective effort of both institutions.
