One of the members of a robbery gang who has been terrorizing residents of Oke-Foma Phase 2 Estate in recent time has been arrested.
It was gathered that AbdulWasiu Sulaiman, 21, was accosted by the vigilante members of the community while trying to bolt with a generating set he just stole from one of the houses inside the estate.
This medium gathered that the generator, valued at one hundred and fifty thousand (N150,000) belongs to one Moshood Otubu who resides at Oke Foma Phase 2 .
Abdulwasiu was said to have scaled the fence of Otubu’s premises to steal the generator.
Confirming the incident to newsmen in Ilorin on Thursday, the spokesman of the NSCDC in Kwara State Babawale Afolabi stated that there have been increase rate in the reports of burglary and housebreaking incidents in recent time and efforts to arrest the situation is yielding positive results.
“There have been reports of housebreaking and bulglaries in and around llorin metropolis in recent time and our officers and men have been working closely with various vigilante groups in the neighborhoods”, he disclosed.
He explained further that the suspect has confessed to being a member of a gang who specializes in breaking into people’s houses to steal their valuable items and that his gang was responsible for various housebreaking and bulglary cases in recent time.
“Abdulwasiu has confessed to the fact that his gang has been responsible for various housebreaking incidents where items such as building materials, electronic items among other things were forcefully stolen from people’s houses.”
He further that effort are ongoing to arrest other members of Abdulwasiu’s gang.
