Fulani herdsmen attack Vigilante in Kwara, one injured

Fulani herdsmen have invaded Oko Obbo-Ile in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State and launched attack on vigilante patrol team.
It was gathered that the suspected armed Fulani herdsmen on Monday laid ambush on the local Vigilante at around 8:30 pm while on patrol.
The incident occurred along Obbo-Ile-Isapa axis which left one of the vigilante patrol team Mashud Taye with machete cut before they later ran into bush.
It was gathered that the injured Vigilante operative has been taken to hospital for treatment.
Efforts to contact the police spokesperson of Kwara State Police Command, SP Ajayi Okasanmi proved abortive as the call put through to him and text messages sent to him on WhatsApp are yet to be replied as at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the NSCDC in Kwara State, Babawale Afolabi through his press release on Tuesday confirmed that the incident occurred when men of the Obbo Ile- vigilante team were on routine patrol.
“On Monday 22 November 2021, two armed herdsmen attacked a vigilante team of the Obbo Ile community who were on a routine patrol and left one of them with a serious injury as a result of the attack.”
He explained further that efforts of the NSCDC operatives in Ekiti Divisional Office and the vigilante team yielded dividends as one of the assailants, Abdulkadir Ali Doogo, 23, from Omu Aran, was arrested and currently helping NSCDC in their investigations.
“The other herdsman is still at large and efforts are ongoing to capture him while the victim is responding to treatment in the hospital”, Afolabi said.
