Super Eagles battle Egypt in AFCON for 2022 World Cup playoffs top seed

Top seeding for the 2022 World Cup final playoffs will also be at stake when the Super Eagles take on Egypt on January 11 in a 2021 AFCON group game in Garoua, Cameroon.
The January FIFA Rankings will now be used to determine the top five seeds for the playoffs.
Only 29 points separate Nigeria (1478.78) and Egypt (1449.51) in the latest FIFA Rankings released this month.
Currently, Nigeria are fifth top seeded team, while Egypt are closely behind as the sixth best ranked team who have qualified for the playoffs.
The top five seeds will avoid each other and be drawn against the five other teams outside this bracket.
The top five seeds will also play the first leg of the playoffs away from home, before the second leg at home.
The World Cup playoffs draw has now been fixed for January 26, while the deciders themselves will be played between March 21 and 29, 2022.
