
Nigerian Customs Service Zone B Strike Force Unit has confiscated contraband worth N110m in Katsina State.
Items seized include 52 cartons of sensitive drugs with fake NAFDAC number, 790 Cartons of Foreign Produced Soaps concealed in Cartons of Local Noodles and Biscuits and 450 bags of foreign parboiled rice, among others.
Displaying the seized Contraband, Deputy Comptroller of Customs, CGC Strike Force Zone B Unit for Northern Axis, Oseni Olokoba, assured that the Nigerian Customs would not relent in its efforts towards reducing smuggling activities in their area of operation.
He pointed out that government has heavily invested in Agriculture to encourage local farmers towards ensuring food security in the country, blaming porosity of Nigerian borders that is paving way for smuggling activities.
The Deputy Comptroller, who lamented expressed the adverse effects of smuggling on the Nationโs economy, explained that with Booster Manpower Support of Comptroller General, smugglers have no hiding place as they would be fished out and prosecuted.
Olokoba pointed out that efforts of officers and men of Nigerian Customs Service have been boosted through provision of operational vehicles that could adapt to tough situations during operations.
