
Details of how former Governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala spent his last moment has emerged.
Alao-Akala died in his country home, Ogbomosho in the early hours of yesterday.
According to impeccable source, the former governor was found dead in his room.
It was gathered that Alao-Akala had returned to his home town on Tuesday from Abuja where he had gone to Abuja to felicitate with a former Majority Leader in the House of Representatives, Mulikat Akande-Adeola, on her birthday.
He was said to had also held meeting with some people on Tuesday night after which he retired to his room but was found dead the next morning.
“He returned from Abuja yesterday (Tuesday) and still held meeting with some people in the evening.
โHe was found dead in his room this morning,โ the source affirmed.
The source added that his remains had been deposited at the Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital, Ogbomoso morgue.
Confirming his death to newsmen, Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee in Oyo State,
Chief Akin Oke, said that the ex-governor was found dead in his room.
He described the death of Alao-Akala as a rude shock and personal loss.
โI am down in all ramifications. Iโm highly devastated and canโt really talk much for now. Please, letโs talk later.โ
Also confirming his death, a former Military Governor of Oyo State, Retired Maj.-Gen. Oladayo Popoola, described the demise of Alao-Akala as shocking.
Popoola, who is also a prominent indigene of Ogbomoso, the birthplace of Alao-Akala, said that news of his demise was communicated to him over the phone.
โYes, I have received the news. Itโs shocking, but I wonโt say anything until I get full details.”
Alao-Akala, a retired police officer, was also a former Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government.
He was deputy governor from 2003 to 2007, and later governor from 2007 to 2011 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
