The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Aliyu Otta Uthman,fsi,has urged indigenes of the community to always invest their financial,intellectual and other resources towards the progress of the Emirate as a way of giving back to our homeland.
Alhaji Uthman gave this admonition in a congratulatory message signed on his behalf by the Union’s National Publicity Secretary, Abubakar Imam, to mark the 56th and 55th birthdays of the Madawaki of Ilorin, Alhaji Yakubu Garba Gobir,and Prof. Aishatu Ahmed Gobir, respectively, which held today.
While congratulating the duo on their respective monumental milestones, the IEDPU President paid glowing tributes to Alhaji Gobir, who he described as a renowned philanthropist, foremost entrepreneur and community leader whose distinguished contributions to community development over the years would remain evergreen.
The statement urged Alhaji Gobir to continue to invest in the progress of Ilorin Emirate through consistent interventions on human capital development such as the comprehensive renovation of the premier Okesuna Primary School, Ilorin, which his philanthropic organisation undertook a few years back.
Speaking on the renowned Professor of Child Health and Paediatrics at the University of Ilorin, Aishatu Ahmed Gobir, Alhaji Uthman described her as an exemplary professional and outstanding academic, who despite her tight official commitments, always found time for community services.
He added that it is a thing of joy that Prof. Gobir and her likes across Ilorin Emirate have been showing in words, actions and remarkable contributions to community development that the training of girl child and specific investment in her intellectual capital are worthy investments as faultlessly asserted by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) whose birthday was also celebrated today.
Alhaji Uthman enjoined younger generations of the people of Ilorin Emirate to emulate the celebrated Gobir “siblings”, who despite their remarkable pedigrees and the enviable accomplishments of their forebears also worked so hard and succeeded at creating beautiful reputations for themselves in the annals of our community.
The statement wished the duo a very remarkable and rewarding birthday and many great years ahead in the services of Allah and humanity.
