Russia 2018: Kwara Coaches divided over Psychic pig’s prediction

Before the start of Russia 2018 World Cup, a pig, Mystic Marcus predicted that the Super Eagles alongside Belgium, Argentina and Uruguay will get to semi-final of the competition. Going beyond that, Nigeria and Argentina are now struggling to get out of group stages, not to talk of making it to the semis of the World Cup. HEAD SPORTS, TOYIN SAHEED talks to Nigeria coaches on the Psychic pig’s prediction.

Its realistic, difficult

Pig prediction is difficult but it is realistic because when you look at it, football is not a matter of one plus one but with the present crops of players we have and our determination, the feat can be achieved. We can see the performance of our boys against Iceland, fantastic play, the physical aspect, mental aspect is there, so I think we can use the same feat in all our games and we can get to semi final. We shouldn’t take the last match against Argentina with levity  because Argentina team is like a wounded lion and they we want to come all out in their last match so, we should take that match with all seriousness. -Samuel Elijah, former Super Eagles player and technical Director, KFA

I don’t believe in animal prediction

I don’t believe in the prediction because it is not animal that can put us in the semi final, it is our performance and our work. Our performance against Argentina will determine the result, it depends on the way we handle the game because Argentina is an experienced side only that they couldn’t get themselves in this competition so we shouldn’t write them off. – Coach Tunde Sanni, Technical Adviser, ABS Ilorin FC

We can qualify for semis

Yes, if we play the way we played against Iceland, we can. We should play better than what we played against Iceland so that we can beat Argentina.  Genart Rohr  – Coach Amusa Adisa (former Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer)

Prediction is possible

However, the surprises our team showed after the first game is a welcome development because everybody have written them off and going by their performance in the second match, certainly, that prediction is still on course. I don’t think we should underrate Argentina because it is a team that has individual pedigree, so the fact that they couldn’t get their art together in this tournament doesn’t take away the fact that they are also a good side, I believe if our boys could raise up their game against them, we will get it right. -Coach Aliyu Subair (Chief Coach Akwa United)

I believe we can make it

Very well, Nigeria bring out their best in the last game so based on that I believe we are going to win our last game and qualify for second round. – Abdulkadir Olatunji Shuab (Assistant Technical Director, KFA)

I don’t believe in pig’s comment

I don’t believe in that, I only believe in our preparations and performance during the competition, that is my own believe. But the way our boys played against Iceland shows that we want to win the game so definitely if we do the same against Argentina, we will get a draw. -Ashifat Sulyman (Chief Coach, Kwara United

Animal is no human  being

I don’t believe the prediction of the pig because it is an animal and animal is not a human being. I have a strong believe that if our boys play our natural Nigeria football, the best result Argentina will get in that game is draw.  The way we play in second half against Iceland is a typical Nigeria tradition and if we can play same way I believe Argentina will suffer that day.

Taofeeq Babatunde (Coach ABS FC U-15)
