What transpired between me, Chupet employees – Kwara OAP

An On Air Personality in Kwara State, Sherif Adegboyega has debunked shoplifting products of Chupet Cosmetics Stores, Ilorin on penultimate Tuesday, as being peddled about.
Given a detailed account of what transpired between him and employees of Chupet on that fateful day, in a statement, yesterday, Adegboyega said, there was no time he was arrested for theft at the shop rather he actually got two boys from the shop arrested after about eight of them conspired to assault him.
“On the evening of Tuesday 30th January, I went to Chupet Stores to buy a body cream, named ‘Body Treat’. As advised by NAFDAC, I had to scratch the panel on the product and send the pin number to a particular code to confirm that the cream is authentic. “Unfortunately after waiting a while, I couldn’t get a confirmation message. I had to report to one of the boys in the stores who complained that I shouldn’t have scratched it without their permission,” he stated.
Adegboyega who was a former reporter at National Pilot said he was thereafter directed to the Assistant Manager(AM).
“On getting there, the AM insisted that since I have scratched it, I must buy the cream but I insisted that I am not buying until I get a message that confirms its authenticity. More so, I have always confirmed the authenticity of the cream using the same method, and I have always received a message confirming it immediately before I pay, even in their store.”
He added that instead of Assistant manager to speak politely to him and convince him of the authenticity of the cream, he threatened that his staff will pounce on the customer if he attempted stepping out of the store.
“Having convinced myself that I have done nothing wrong, I stepped out of the store, then one of the boys followed me and launched a physical attack on me. In no time, about seven more joined him to assault and manhandle me. However, some Yoruba guys quickly came to my rescue.”
He said after the intervention, a lot of thoughts went through his mind but as a promising young man and a radio personality, who aims to make a change in the world, he opted for redress through legal means.
“I left for the B Division Police Command, in Surulere, Ilorin to file a case against the culprits and seek their immediate arrest. Kudos to the police for swinging into action and arresting two of the boys immediately. I subsequently informed my family about the development and they were at the police station immediately.”
Speaking further, Adegboyega said he was admitted at Ola Olu Hospital along Offa Garage, Ilorin, where he passed the night while the culprits were still in police custody. The latter were said to have been released 24hours later.
“On my return from the hospital, the following day, my dad prevailed on me to discontinue the case. It took me time to agree to my dad’s wish but not without discussing the conditions the culprit must satisfy before withdrawing the case filed against them.
In the early hours of 1st January, I withdrew the case I filed against the culprits after they satisfied the conditions put forward. This is to allow peace to reign among us all as we are neighbours in same area,” he divulged.
The radio personality however warned mischief makers against defamation of his person even as he appreciated all those who mediated in the issue.
