By Jimoh Sulyman

In the aftermath of the recent report made by National Pilot, the kwara state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq in what was an afterthought has been reported to have shelved his decision to drop his deputy, Kayode Alabi as his running mate in the coming 2023 polls.
This decision according a credible inside source who spoke to National Pilot was taken in order to avoid further crises which has been besetting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state in recent times.
It would be recalled that National Pilot in its last Thursday edition, reported  the fractured relationship between Governor AbdulRazaq and his deputy, Alabi and his possible dropping and replacement as the Governor’s running mate
The release of the running mate form to Alabi , sources revealed, was done  clandestinely by the Governor, a departure from the fanfare such ceremony usually attracted. “The whole thing was done secretly. This is why the issue of his running mate is still a matter of speculation in many political circles “, the source said.
The source further stressed that the Governor on realizing that the attempt to replace the deputy governor will only plunge the party deeper in crisis ,makes a reversal and finally chose Alabi as his running mate.
Alabi who was said to have been introduced to Governor AbdulRazaq by Isiaka, the Governor’s younger  brother, is said to be a victim of the silent feud between the two brothers, whereby the Governor felt his Deputy is  more loyal to his brother, Isiaka than him.
Another reason given for Abdulrasaq’s  decision to dump Alabi, according to sources, was the inability of the deputy to properly coordinate the kwara south political activities for his boss, the zone where the governor is facing major opposition. It is the zone where he has been brought almost to his knees by leading members of the ruling party, APC.
