Honourable Abdulraheem Olawuyi, the lawmaker representing Irepodun/Ekiti/Oke Ero/Isin Federal House of Representatives constituency, yesterday declined comment on the N85million bullet proof Lexus jeep he allegedly acquired.
The picture of the multi-million luxury car reportedly owned by the lawmaker had flooded the social media space yesterday.
The bullet proof utility vehicle, a silver colour with registration number NASS REP 324 FL was a 2019 LX 570 SUV model.
Checks by our reporter last night on a car manufacturing website, INKAS Armoured Vehicle Manufacturing Company described the car as the most durable bullet proof vehicle in recent time with a price tag of $86,230.
Further description of the vehicle according to the website revealed the SUV is 8 capacity sitter with a 5.7L gasoline with a V8 engine with a fuel consumption of 93L and 8 transmission automatic speed.
The development had generated several comments online with many social media users condemning the Adewuyi, popularly called Ajulo-Opin for what they described as extravagant spending instead of working for the overall aspiration of the masses who voted for change during the last election.
Some of the commentators argued that the lawmaker should have show more concern on how to improve fortunes of his constituents, who are expecting him to fulfill his campaign promises.
However, efforts to get Ajulo-Opin to react to the issue was unsuccessful as calls to his mobile phone were not picked. Also response to a text message seeking his clarification on the issue was still being awaited as at the time of filing this report.
Similarly, efforts to also get his media aide, Femi Adewuyi to respond last night proved abortive as his line was switched off.
This medium gathered that the choice of the bullet jeep was necessitated by a gunshot he escaped during the build up to the rerun bye-election where he emerged the winner of the poll defeating his only rival, Jimoh Alatise, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Ajulo-Opin won the bye-election into the constituency last year November to replace the late Funke Adedoyin. He was reelected to represent the constituency at the House of Representatives election last March.
