Two suspected cow thieves remanded in Ilorin Prison

A Kwara state magistrate court sitting in Ilorin the state capital has remanded two defendants, Nura Buda and Segir Bello in Ilorin prison over their involvement in the theft of a calf.
According to the police report obtained by National Pilot, sometimes last Month Buda was arrested in Okoolowo area for selling a stolen calf to Bello for the sum of # 30,000 and were both apprehended by my men of 22 Battalion Nigeria Army Sobi Cantonment Ilorin.
while speaking to the court, Bello who is a butcher at around Oko-Olowo area of Ilorin, admitted that he knows that the calf is a stolen one and still went ahead to buy it from the first defendant.
Similarly, the police revealed that during their investigation, the first defendant, Buda confessed in his confessional statement that he indeed stole the calf and sold it to his co-defendant.
The defense counsel, Barrister M.M Yusuf plead to the court to grant his clients bail ,a plea that was countered by the Prosecutor, Zacchaeus Folorunsho who noted that the offenses are not ordinarily bailable offences, hence the court should remand them.
Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki in his ruling ordered that the defendants be remanded in the Federal Correctional Centre and also adjourned the matter till 3rd of October for further mention.
