A philanthropist, Alhaji Abdulrazak Oko-Ode has explained the reason he has chosen the path of Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
Speaking on Monday during the flag-off of his home grown school feeding programme in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oko-Ode said he admired Saraki for his commitment to making life meaningful to Kwarans and Nigerians at large.
The event, which took place at ECWA Primary School, Ganmo, had in attendance party stalwarts and officials of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).
In his words, Oko-Ode said, “I am particularly motivated by the many life impacting programmes of our leader and the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, hence I have resolved to compliment his efforts in my own little way.
“Today, I am representing the Senate President as the Coordinator of Bukola Saraki Youths Vanguard in Ifelodun. I therefore deemed it fit to touch the lives of primary school pupils in Ifelodun in line with the teachings of our leader, Dr Bukola Saraki.
“As part of my efforts to uplift education in the state, an annual quiz competition in honour of Dr Bukola Saraki will be organised among primary schools in Ifelodun. All winners of the competition would be given trophies backed with substantial amount of money. Also the overall winner shall be given scholarship grants annually.”
Oko-Ode, who is otherwise known as Bullet appreciated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Kwara South Senatorial Districts Chairman, Alh. Jimoh Balogun and Ifelodun Chairman of the party, Alh. Saka Oladimeji for making the event a reality just as he called on party leaders to create employment opportunities for the teeming youth.
In his remarks, Alhaji Jimoh Balogun who represented Saraki at the event, described Oko-Ode as a selfless individual who has been contributing to the success of the party from his personal earnings.
He recollected how Oko-Ode provided financial support to supporters of APC during the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) travail of the Senate President.
“Those days, he would travel from Kano to join us in Abuja and he provided financial assistance to supporters of the party. No one should be surprise if by tomorrow Oko-Ode’s name is announced for appointment because he is a cheerful giver and one that has worked consistently for the success of the party in the state,” he stated.
Earlier, the APC Chairman in Ifelodun, Alh. Saka Oladimeji, applauded the donor saying the gesture will go a long way in boosting the morale of the pupils.
In his remarks, the Education Secretary of Ifelodun, Chief Jimoh Balogun, described the gesture as timely despite Kwara being listed among the beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s home grown school feeding programme.
He however charged the sponsor to ensure the programme is benefitted by all schools and pupils in the local government even as he solicited Oko-Ode’s support in the area of trophies and other logistics for the proposed quiz, reading and sports competition.
Speaking further, Balogun said, “I call on other affluent individuals in Ifelodun to help in improving the quality of education, especially in the area of recruitment of teachers, renovation and construction of classrooms.”
