Eleven suspects nabbed for illegal mining activities in Kwara

Eleven suspects have been arrested for illegal mining activities by the Kwara state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC.

The suspects are, suspects; Kaka Azare (56), Muhammed Dan Azumi (30), Abdullahi Adamu (35), Abdullahi Muhammed (30), and Suleiman Babayo (20).

Others include Muhammed Umar (15), Nasiru Abubakar (18), Adam Muhammed (25), Alh Muhammed (25), Nasir Bello (25), and Ismail Garba (25).

Commandant of the command, Muhammed Tukur Ibrahim, who spoke through the spokesman, Ayeni Olasunkanmi in Ilorin on Wednesday, disclosed that the suspects were arrested at Share, in Ifelodun Local Government of Kwara state on the 17th October, 2022 at about 02:00hrs.

The suspects were arrested with three big Trucks fully loaded with raw materials suspected to be Lithium, illegally mined at Patigi, in the Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara state.

They were intercepted by operatives of the command at Share in Ifelodun LGA, Kwara state, on their way to Ogun state.

According to the Commandant, the Command is working hard with other relevant agencies to curtail the activities of illegal miners within the state.

“Apart from the pact between the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel to help fight this menace, the Executive Governor of Kwara state, Mallam Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq, has also ordered the NSCDC Kwara Command, to save the state from the illegal mining activities.

The state Commandant warned all illegal miners to either follow the due process if they want to do the business or leave the state in their own interest.

He said the Command will not hesitate to bring any one that engages in illegal mining to book.
