To mark the 10th Memorial Anniversary of his passing, we have chosen a theme “The Leadership and Followership Debate” that captures our dear father’s style of leadership and the uniquely personal relationship he had with his supporters, followers, and community.
“Since his return to the country after studying medicine in the United Kingdom, our late father strived relentlessly for the unity of the country. His ancestral origin and natural disposition shaped him in becoming a renowned bridge-builder, narrowing the ethnic, religious and socio-economic divide within the nation.
“Oloye, as he was fondly called, had a huge and fanatical grassroots support across the country, in general, but particularly in his home state, Kwara.
“He committed his resources and time to the welfare, empowerment, and development of these supporters.
“He made sacrifices to promote participatory democracy in which the ordinary man and woman would be politically conscious enough to have a say in key decisions affecting their lives, thereby exerting a strong influence on the actions of their leaders.
“It is for this opinion reason that we, the children together with his close friends and associates thought it apt that his 10th memorial Anniversary focus attention on critical issues of National unity, grassroots development and the need for engaged enlightened fellowship, as important considerations for visionary leadership.” part of the statements read.
