Flood disaster claims eight persons in Ilorin

At least eight persons have so far been killed in flood disasters which occurred in Ilorin, Kwara state capital from January to date.
Findings at the State Fire Service headquarters in Ilorin, showed that the number of dead bodies recovered by the agency was put at eight while no live was saved from the flood disasters.
Statistics made public by the Spokesman of the fire service, Hassan Adekunle in Ilorin, showed that on 29/02/2022, a 26-year-old man, Hamed was recovered dead at Adico, beside Royal Sekinat Hotel on Ajase-Ipo road in Ilorin metropolis.
Similarly, on 3/9/2022, a- 27year old Peter Ajayi, jumped into the Asa River alongTaiwo Isale area of Ilorin, and was recovered dead.
A 42-year-old woman was also recovered dead by the fire service on 29/9/2022 at
Amule River beside U-Sanda filling station, Ilorin.
The fire service on 01/10/2022, further recovered three corpses drowned in a flood disaster opposite Abubakar Sola Saraki abattoir, along Sobi Road Ilorin, the state capital.
Another flood disaster claimed the lives of two boys on 02/10/2022 at the Amilegbe area of the state capital, the fire service added.
Recall that within the period under review, some fish farmers along the bank of the Asa River, also recorded losses running into millions of naira as their farms were washed away by the devastating floods.
