A 60 -year-old farmer, Sule Musa have been arrested for allegedly kidnapping one Mohammed Buruji in Gwanara, Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, penultimate Monday.
Pilot Crime gathered that the suspect was nabbed by men of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) of Kwara State Police Command.
The suspect alongside his accomplices were said to have accosted the victim and accused him of grazing his cattle in their farms.
According to a police source, the case was reported at the Police Division in Gwanara before it was transfered to the F-SARS unit for discreet investigation.
“The victim reported that on the 2nd of August, he was attacked by Sule Musa, Takur Rabiu and lbrahim Musa with sticks and cutlasses on the allegation that his cattle destroyed crops on their farmlands.
“Buruji was inflicted with machete cuts on his head and hands and consequently rushed to hospital in Gwanara by good Samaritan and discharged three days later,” the source narrated.
It was further gathered that following amicable settlement of the case at the police station, the trio went back to attack the victim again.
”Few days after the case was settled at the police station, the suspects went to Buruji’s house to attack him again and subsequently whisked him away to an unknown destination.
“The victim was later rescued by operatives of F-SARS after they got winds of the development and swung into action.
“Musa was nabbed while his accomplices escaped arrest and are now at large. During interrogation at the SARS office, the suspect confessed that, himself and his accomplice criminally conspired to attack the victim.
“He confessed further that they kidnapped the victim with the intention of terminating his life but luck ran out on them,” the source added.
The police source further said that efforts are on to arrest the two suspects who are at large, adding that Musa is helping security operatives with investigation into the case.
Efforts to get the state police spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, on the matter proved abortive as calls to his mobile phones did not connect at the time of filing this report.
