National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has finally reached a deal with four local airlines, for the airlifting of Nigeria’s intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2028 hajj.

The airlines, Peace Air, Azman Air, Aero contractors, and Maxim air, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Tuesday with NAHCON in Abuja.

Last Thursday, the four airline had refused to sign the MOU, due to the fighting in sudan, whose air space they will overfly on their way to Saudi Arabia.

Only FLY NAS of Saudi Arabia signed the MOU last Thursday.

NAHCON chairman, Alhaji Sikirullahi Hassan, signing the MOU, commended the four airlines for their sacrifice in the face of security challenge posed by the war in Sudan.

He, however, pleaded with them not to review upward the air fare payable by the intending pilgrims for the flight.

The airlifting of an advance team of the commission would start on May 21 from the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport, Abuja.
