A 57-year- old married woman, identified as Mrs Jamiu Sikirat has reportedly fallen into a well and died.
The tragic incident occurred yesterday(Monday) at Ile- Onikoko compound in Adeta, Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.
According to a press release signed by Head of Department, Media and Publicity of the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, which was made available to National Pilot, Sikirat who was from Ile-Agunko compound in the same neighbourhood, went to fetch water at the domestic well and accidentally fell into it. The incident happened in the evening at about 18:42Hrs(06:42pm).
” The Fire Brigade was Summoned through an exchange Telephone call by One Mr Muhammad Jamiu Living in that neighbourhood.
” However, Firemen were able to recover the dead body from the well and later handed it over to one Alfa Abdulganiyu Akuko, a family member of the deceased, in the presence of the Nigerian Police Officers, Adewole Division, Ilorin.
” According to the report, the victim woman went to fetch water at the well and during the process of fetching one of his legs suddenly slipped off the ground and eventually tumbled down into the well.
” The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, expressed his sadness over the incident and urged the general public to be more careful in their day-to-day activities and they should desist from sending under-age children to fetch water in domestic well”.
