Hakeem Odumosu reacts to alleged appointment as EFCC Chair

By our staff reporter
A retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has described claims that he has been appointed as chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission EFCC.
President Bola Tinubu had last week suspended Abdulrasheed Bawa as chairman of EFCC.
He appointed Abdulkarim Chukkol, who was Director of Operation of the Commission as the Acting Chairman.
However, viral reports on Tuesday evening had indicated that the President had approved the takeover of the Commission by Odumosu.
Some newspapers had also reported the appointment on Wednesday morning.
Reacting to the rumour, Odumosu, a former Lagos Police Commissioner said he is was not aware of such an appointment in a brief statement he issued on Wednesday morning.
According to him, the circulation of the fake news about the appointment was an unnecessary distraction by mischief makers.
He said: “Good Morning everyone, I have been inundated with so many calls and messages between yesterday and today on a purported “EFCC Appointment”. I just want to use this opportunity to debunk this information and say it’s totally untrue.
“This information must have emanated from Mischief Makers and should be totally disregarded.”
