By our staff reporter
Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has sympathized with victims of the Lafiagi villages in Edu Local Government Area of the state who were affected by flood which ravaged their settlement over the weekend.
The governor who was represented by his deputy, Kayode Alabi visited the affected villages and after inspecting the flooded areas reassured the victims of the state government’s continued support and intervention.
Heavy downpour leading to massive flood had ravaged Pututa village and Gwa bridge in Lafiagi over the weekend causing farmers in the area to lose farm investment worth millions of naira.
The Emir of Lafiagi, Alh. Mohammed Kudi Kawu said the flooding has been reoccurring for years and it is majorly caused by the dredging of the Niger River which is close to the community. This crisis he said is overwhelming to the economy since Lafiagi is a strong agrarian community.
