By Fatai Ahmed
The President of the 8th Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Saturday, reacted to the death of the former military administrator of the state, Group Captain Salaudeen Adebola Olatinwo (Rtd), describing it as yet another big loss for the state.
The former military administrator reportedly died in the early hours of Saturday 12 August, in the United Kingdom (UK) after battling a protracted illness.
Latinwo, a retired Group Captain in the Nigerian Air Force, served as the military governor of Kwara state from January 1984 to August 1985 under the military government of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.
Saraki, according to his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, described the death of the late military governor as a great loss to the state, particularly at this time, when the wisdom and experience of senior stakeholders are needed to steer the ship of the state.
“I am extremely sad and heartbroken to learn about the passing of Group Captain Olatinwo, who dedicated his life to the services of our state and Nigerian with passion and commitment at different levels of his life.
“Throughout his life, which was dedicated to the service of his community, our state, and the country, Captain Latinwo was a steadfast and experienced leader. His commitment to the development of our state and its people was undeniable, evident in both his words and actions.
“This is yet another irreplaceable loss of an elder statesman for Kwara and Nigeria at large. It is saddening, but we take solace in the enviable life he lived.
“As we mourn the passing of this great Kwaran, I pray that the Almighty Allah grants the deceased Aljanah Firdaus and comforts his family, the people of Offa in Offa LGA; and the entire government and people of Kwara State. He will be dearly missed,” Saraki said.
