Tani Olohun’s case: The only way out is an amicable settlement – Lawyer of detained traditionalist begs
…says matter taken dangerous dimension

By Ahmed Ajikobi
The lawyer standing for the detained traditionalist, Abdulazeez Adegbola popularly called ‘Tani Olohun’ has appealed to the parties in the matter to adopt an amicable and out-of-court settlement, said the matter has taken different and dangerous dimensions.
Tani Olohun, a traditional believer, is facing charges over a case of alleged defamation of character, among other offenses leveled against him by some Islamic scholars in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Speaking with Journalists today, Wednesday Barrister Muftau Olobi, who is a lawyer for ‘Tani Olohun’ appealed to Muslim bodies, concerned people to accept a plea of his client and that of his relatives for forgiveness.
“The matter has taken different, dangerous dimensions, but basically, there must be religious tolerance. The man in prison custody is involved in vulgar abuse. The matter is before the court. I have nothing to say about it. I stood for him when he was initially arraigned.
“My focus now is to preach the gospel of religious tolerance. I spoke with his relative to appease the Muslim community, and they’ve done that. Tani Olohun is equally interested in appealing to all those that are aggrieved. The way out now is to appease everyone. The traditionalists, Muslims, anyone he may have offended.
“The only way out is amicable settlement. I’m the advocate of out court of settlement. The Ulamas are with me too on this,” he said.
He also sued for peace among religious bodies, clerics and religious adherents in the country.
