The Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the Isin state constituency in the March 18th, 2023 General Elections, Ambassador Alabi Solomon Rotimi, and his party, the PDP have both rejected the verdict of the state Election Petition tribunal which affirmed the election of the APC candidate, Honorable Razak Omotosho as the winner of the Assembly elections.
Rotimi, while speaking through the Director of ASRA Care FOUNDATION, Rt. Hon. Gbenga Fadipe (JP), shortly after the ruling, said the judgment is simply justice thrown to the gutter.
Expressing his dissatisfaction with the ruling, Rotimi noted that his counsels have been mandated to study the judgment to proceed to the appeal court.
“We are not accepting this outcome of the Honorable court, we believe we advanced our petitions with sufficient shreds of evidence that should have guided the court. Our lawyers have been given a mandate to study the judgment and proceed on appeal. Our people’s stolen mandate shall be recovered at the appellate court,” he said.
Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party, Isin LG chapter has described the judgment of the election petition tribunal sitting in Ilorin as distasteful and a gross Miscarriage of Justice.
The party chairman, Isin LG, Honorable Aremu Ola Jesu expressed disappointment in the judgment, noting that the tribunal ignored weighty evidence presented by the party’s LG collation agent and other polling unit agents who were in court to provide a true account of how Isin elections were manipulated in favour of the ruling APC.
Hon. Aremu urged party supporters and people of Isin, who are disappointed in this Miscarriage of Justice, to remain calm while the party works together with the candidate to begin the process of appealing the judgment.
