Tragedy occurred in Oke-Andi, Sango area of Ilorin on Monday as a branch of tree reportedly fell on seven person, leaving two dead and five critically injured.
The victims were said to be sitting close to the tree when the incident happened.
The incident caused tension leading to protest by youths in the area.
In a viral video seen by the National Pilot, people were seen blocking the road with benches and sticks to protest the tragedy, alleging that they had called the relevant authority to help cut down the tree, with no response.
“ We have reported to the ministry of environment to come and rescue them by cutting down the tree.”
When National Pilot contacted the kwara State police command spokesperson SP Ajayi Okasanmi on the development he said the story was true.
According to him, Seven persons were affected and ” we rushed them to the hospital two eventually died and others are still undergoing treatment.”
