Hunter Remanded for Alleged Robbery, Murder of Trader in Kwara

A magistrate court in Ilorin, Kwara State, has ordered the remand of Lawal Usman, a 40-year-old hunter, who is accused of robbing and killing his friend.

The charge sheet reveals that Usman allegedly conspired with an accomplice (currently at large) to attack brothers Sanusi Idrisu and Saleh Idrisu as they were returning from Kara Market in Ajase-Ipo, robbing them in the process.

According to the charge sheet: “Saleh was shot during the incident and was pronounced dead at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where he was rushed to.

“Investigation by police revealed that Usman conspired with the suspect at large to rob the duo and killed one of the victims in the process. He (Usman) sustained injuries on the forehead and shoulders, with his headlamp destroyed,” the charge sheet added.

The accused was represented by Barrister Toyin Onaolapo, while Emmanuel prosecuted the case.

Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki ordered the remand of Usman and adjourned the case to July 23, 2024.
