A major IT outage has impacted the operations of banks and airlines around the world, affecting services in countries such as Singapore, the United States, and Australia.
The outage began in the early hours of Friday, with Microsoft confirming it was investigating an “issue” with its 365 apps and operating systems.
According to a status update on its website, Microsoft reported that while some services had been restored, users should still anticipate “service degradation.”
Social media experts have attributed the outage to a recent update to CrowdStrike’s security software, which is believed to have caused problems with Windows software.
CrowdStrike acknowledged the issue in a recorded message on Friday when contacted for technical support, stating it was aware of reports of crashes on Microsoft’s Windows operating system related to its Falcon sensor.
