Letter To Gov Abdulrasaq: Provide Details of N570 bn Intervention Funds To States By President Tinubu
Onilemarun Abdulkareem
Your Excellency Sir,
Request to Provide Details of the N570 Billion Intervention Funds to States of the Federal by President Bola Tinubu.
The Federal Government of Nigeria disclosed that a sum of N570B has been disbursed to the States of the Federation. This was stated by the President himself, in his broadcast to Nigerians at the height of the #EndBadGovernance Protest.
I believe the Kwara State Government received its share from the intervention funds. Kwarans were shocked to be informed about this by the President himself, but more shocked that you said the President and Governors have heard our call and will do something. There was no disclosure of any sort on the intervention funds received until the presidency exposed you and your colleagues.
It is imperative to state that Kwarans don’t know what has been generated as revenue in the H1 of 2024, as this is rather surprisingly and suspiciously shrouded in secrecy. Now, silence graced the billions received as intervention fund, and the whereabouts of the rice that was never a solution remains unknown. Why are you sabotaging the president, or do you have any personal vendetta against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that you can not aid his administration with even a little drop of transparency and accountability?
If President Tinubu offended you and you chose to glaringly sabotage his administration, that is a business between you and him. However, what exactly is the sin of Kwarans that you want to drive them to death via hunger? Is there any other greater crime than them voting you, and must you reward their lack of awareness about your person with brutality and genocide via hunger?
Refusal to compliment FG and disclose details of interventions is nothing but a genocidal attempt, and perhaps the illusion that Kwarans didn’t take to the street makes you feel they’re not affected with the national tragedy brought by subsidy-removal and complimented by your poor governance.
The lack of protest in the State is to the credit of the opposition who opts for peace instead of any potential violence, not the tricks of sharing money to Okada riders via their Association. If opposition had taken to the street, even neutral citizens might have joined, but as always, PDP remains a liberal opposition.
Kwarans would like to know how much was received and what it was used for, Who received it, LGs or individuals, what programmes has the State used the money for? If you’ve donated it to BDCs as a form of personal investment and to drive pressure on naira, kindly inform Kwarans as well.
Lastly, Sir, I believe this is the best time for Kwarans with good conscience to ask questions about how our resources are being utilized. You are accountable to us as we are eternally vigilant. We are the custodians of our collective destiny, so it behooves us, the citizens, to remain steadfast against the hydraheaded ambitions of Your Excellency in becoming the Yahaya Bello of Kwara.
