Maja: Death must be a vital lesson to mankind’ – Clerics admonish * As Saraki, others eulogize Late politician at fidau prayer
President of the 8th Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, joined family, religious leaders and political associates to attend the fidau prayer of the late Alhaji Suleiman Yusuf Kayode Maja.
The late Maja, until his death, was a top loyalist of the Saraki political dynasty and a close friend of the Saraki family.
According to a statement by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir – ABDUL ABDUL, Saraki commiserated with the children of the deceased and the Maja family over the loss of the popular political figure.
He noted that the late Maja will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, commitment and sacrifices for the Saraki Political family till his last breath.
The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Dr Muhammad Bashir Soliu, who led the fidau prayer, prayed for the deceased and the family he left behind.
While charging those present to emulate the good deeds of the late Kwara politician, the Islamic cleric also appreciated Saraki on the life of Alhaji Maja and his support for his associates.
The Chief Imam, while praying for Saraki, also remembered Mama Saraki and prayed for the repose of her soul.
A special prayer was further held for the Waziri Ngeri by Islamic scholars in the Ilorin Emirate led by the Mufti of Ilorin, Alhaji Sulyman Faruq Onikijipa.
Other Islamic clerics who delivered lectures at the fidau prayer, include Alhaji Suleiman Danboronu and Shiekh Abdulrasaq Aduagba.
The clerics, in their separate lectures, underscored the significance and lessons of death to mankind, admonishing the powerful class in society to remember death as a leveller.
According to them, death should be a lesson to everyone as we have witnessed the lives of those who misused power, position and resources.
Several dignitaries witnessed the fidau prayer to pay their last respects to the late Alhaji Suleiman Yusuf Kayode Maja who impacted so many lives during his time on earth.
Saraki also visited the family of the late Engr. Yusuf Aliyu, another close associate who died a few months ago.
The former Senate President was received by the head of the family and former Rector of Kaduna Polytechnic, Dr Ayinla Aliyu.
Saraki thereafter visited the Gambari family House of the Gobirs to pay a condolence visit to the family over the death of Sarikin Gobir, Captain Muhammad Yusuf Gobir.
He offered his deepest condolences and words of comfort. Saraki prayed to Almighty Allah (SWT) to grant the deceased Aljanah Firdaus and the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
