“‘₦70k for Two States?” Baba Wande Exposes Shocking Low Pay That Made Him Take A Break From Acting

Renowned Yoruba actor Kareem Adepoju, better known as Baba Wande, has opened up about the startling reason he took a break from the movie industry.
In an interview shared on Kunle Afod’s YouTube channel, @KunleafodTV, Baba Wande revealed the harsh realities of acting in Nigeria. Speaking from his home in Osogbo, the veteran actor lamented the meager pay offered for roles, recounting a particularly insulting offer of just ₦70,000 for a job spanning two states.
“I don’t go to movie locations anymore, because the money they are offering is not encouraging at all. I stopped acting in movies because I was offered a role in 2 states with a 70,000 naira payment. “There is no way I can take that amount, especially with the current situation of the country considering the pride of fuel at the moment.”
While his statement highlights the struggles of many veterans in Nollywood, Baba Wande hinted that he might return if fair compensation is offered: “Maybe if somebody offers me a movie role with a good payment, I may consider coming back to act.”
His revelations have ignited debates about the poor treatment of industry icons and the urgent need for better pay standards in Nollywood.
