A divorce case brought before the Centre Igboro Area Court in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday took a dramatic turn as Mr. Abdulsalam Toheeb, the respondent in a divorce case filed by his wife, Mrs. Toyeebat Abdulsalam failed to appear for the proceedings.
The complainant, Mrs. Toyeebat Abdulsalam, who resides in the Gaa-Odota area of Ilorin, filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and constant fights with her husband. She stated that the conflicts had persisted since the birth of their first child and had become unbearable.
“Ever since I gave birth to my first child, it was always fight almost every day. I have 5 children, and yet the fight still hasn’t stopped. It has gotten to a point whereby I can’t take it anymore. That’s why I’m filing for divorce,” the complainant told the court.
The presiding judge, Idris Etsu, therefore, inquired whether Mrs. Toyeebat wanted to retain custody of her children. She, however, declined, declaring that custody be granted to her husband, Mr. Toheeb.
The judge, therefore, adjourned the case until 13th December 2024 due to the absence of the respondent, Mr. Abdulsalam Toheeb.
