The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two recent graduates of University of Ilorin for allegedly producing and distributing drug-laced cupcakes.

According to the statement released on Sunday by the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the suspects, identified as 24-year-old Khadijat Abdulraheem and a 20-year-old accomplice, Morakinyo Ayomide, were arrested in the Tanke-Oke Odo area of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Babafemi also revealed that a search of the suspects’ residence led to the discovery of 42 cupcakes infused with illicit substances. Babafemi stated that the operation forms part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat the circulation of illegal drugs within academic communities.

“This arrest highlights the growing trend of drug-laced edibles targeting young people. We will continue to intensify efforts to rid communities of such harmful practices,” Babafemi stated.
