The Lagos state house of assembly has impeached Mudashiru Obasa as speaker.
The lawmakers subsequently elected Mojisola Meranda, representative of Apapa I, as the new speaker.
Meranda, who took her oath of office immediately, would serve as the first female speaker of the Lagos legislature.
52-year-old Obasa has been speaker of the Lagos state house of assembly since 2015.
Obasa had been embroiled in multiple fraudulent allegations which culminated in his impeachment on Monday
