The wife of former Senate President and founder of WellBeing Africa Foundation, Toyin Saraki has expressed profound grief over the death of a former Woman Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, Muslimat Ibrahim.
In an emotional tribute posted on her Instagram page on Tuesday, Mrs Saraki described Muslimat fondly known as Iya’n Kwara, as “unfailingly amiable and actively dedicated to the cause of women’s participation in political leadership, from grassroots communities right up to the highest levels of engagement in women’s agency and autonomy.”
She emphasized Jimba’s lifelong commitment to women’s empowerment, education, and interfaith harmony, calling her “a compassionate mother and a sagacious politician.”
Reflecting on the loss, the global health advocate invoked both Islamic and Christian scriptures, writing: “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we return.” (Qur’an 2:156) and “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.” (Romans 14:8).
She also expressed gratitude for those who represented her at Muslimat’s Fidau prayers, stating, “ I deeply appreciate being represented at the Fidau prayers today, during @UnitedNations World Interfaith Harmony Week, by the @WellbeingAfrica Foundation National Programs Lead, Mr. Akinsola Kehinde; Lead Midwife, Mrs. Komolafe Patricia; Mr. Yusuf Alabere; Nurse Aisha Ahmed; Adegboye Peter of the #WBFA and #Alaafia Kwara initiative, as well as Honourable Segilola Jimoh, Hajia Sarat Adebayo, and Honourable Ebun Owolabi, alongside other women leaders, as we come together to comfort the family and pray that the soul of Beloved Hajiya Muslimat is received into eternal rest in heavenly peace. Amen.”
