A shocking incident has rocked Ilorin as an Islamic cleric, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo was arrested by the police for allegedly murdering a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, in what is suspected to be a ritual killing.
Reports indicate that Ballo connected with Yetunde through Facebook, eventually obtaining her contact information before luring her into a deadly trap.
The tragic event is said to have taken place on Monday.

The victim, Hasoh
According to sources, Hafsoh was attending a naming ceremony when she received a phone call from a friend. She momentarily stepped away to take the call but never returned. As panic set in, her loved ones launched an extensive search, only to come up empty-handed. Her disappearance was formally reported to the Oja Oba police station the following day.
Police traced Hafsoh Yetunde’s last phone activity, leading them to Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, who lived in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin, though his family home was in Isalekoto.
Upon questioning, Ballo initially denied any knowledge of Hafsoh’s whereabouts. He later claimed that she had suffered a fatal asthma attack while at his residence.
However, a search of his home revealed a far more horrifying reality—Yetunde’s dismembered remains were discovered hidden inside a large bowl, alongside various tools used in the gruesome act.
Further investigation pointed to a disturbing pattern, as police uncovered a table equipped with instruments for body mutilation, suggesting that this was not Ballo’s first time committing such a crime.
Ballo, reportedly the son of a late respected cleric from Isalekoto, Ilorin, is now in police custody at the Kwara State Police Headquarters, where authorities continue their probe into the chilling case.
When National Pilot contacted the Kwara State Police Command Spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, on Saturday morning stated that: “the Kwara Police Command is aware of the gruesome killing of one Miss Yetunde H. Lawal. On 11/O2/2025 at about 1800hours, a case of missing person was reported at C Division Oja-Oba by her father Mr Ibrahim A Lawal. Immediately, the police detectives swung into action, tracked her number and arrested a suspect. The case was transferred yesterday to the SCID for discreet investigations. Further updates will be communicated as investigations progresses.”
