Kwara PDP Hosts North Central Zonal Chairmanship Aspirant, Hon. Amb. Stephen Ajia

The Kwara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday played host to one of the aspirants for the North Central Zonal Chairmanship of the party, Hon. Ambassador Stephen Ajia, at the State Secretariat along Pipeline Road, Ilorin.

Ambassador Ajia, who visited the state in company of his campaign team, was warmly received by the expanded State Executive Committee of the party led by the state Chairman, Rt Honorable Babatunde Mohammed.

His visit to Kwara was part of ongoing consultations with stakeholders and delegates across the North Central geopolitical zone ahead of the forthcoming Zonal Congresses scheduled to hold in Jos, Plateau State.

In his address, Ambassador Ajia commended the leadership of the President of the 8th Senate, His Excellency, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki (CON), and the Kwara State PDP for what he described as an inspiring model of party organization and strength. He praised the resilience of party members and encouraged them to remain steadfast, expressing optimism that the future of the PDP remains bright despite prevailing challenges.

He assured the Kwara PDP that, if given the mandate, he would champion the interests of the North Central region with courage and fairness, and work with other organs of the party to reposition the PDP for electoral success in 2027.

Ambassador Ajia further condemned the poor state of governance in the country under the APC-led administration and called on party delegates in Kwara to make the right decision during the Zonal Congress by supporting a competent, bold, and visionary leader to steer the affairs of the zone.

In his welcome remarks, the State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Babatunde Mohammed, expressed appreciation to the aspirant for his visit and acknowledged the significance of the North Central leadership to the overall strength of the PDP. He assured the delegation that the Kwara PDP, under the guidance of its leader Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, would continue to engage and deliberate wisely to ensure the best choices are made for the good of the party.

Also speaking, the State Secretary of the party, Hon. Abdulrahman Kayode Alase (Greatkay), applauded Ambassador Ajia’s courage and commitment to the party, noting that the PDP is in dire need of tested, credible leadership at all levels. He reiterated the readiness of the Kwara PDP to play its part in repositioning the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Present at the meeting were Local Government Party Chairmen, members of the State Working Committee, Senatorial District Excos, women caucuses , youth caucuses and other members of the Expanded State Executive Committee.
