AMVCA AWARD 2025 : Femi Adebayo, Chioma Chukwuka Win Best Lead Actor, Best Lead Actress With Seven Doors Movie

By Bamidele Aremu
Nollywood had a standout moment at the 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) as Femi Adebayo’s Seven Doors claimed two of the ceremony’s most prestigious accolades: Best Lead Actor for Adebayo himself and Best Lead Actress for Chioma Chukwuka. The wins firmly establish Seven Doors as one of the year’s most celebrated productions.
The historical drama series—co-directed by Femi Adebayo, Adebayo Tijani, and Tope Adebayo—tells the story of King Adedunjoye, a reluctant monarch tormented by a generational curse. To break it, he must marry six additional wives—opening “seven doors”—while struggling to remain faithful to his true love, Amaka, played by Chioma Chukwuka. The series explores complex themes of tradition, sacrifice, and destiny.
The awards ceremony, held on Saturday night, May 10th, also honored legendary figures Sani Mu’azu and Nkem Owoh with Lifetime Achievement Awards, and presented the Trailblazer Award to Kayode Kasum for his innovative contributions to African cinema.
The AMVCA, hosted annually by MultiChoice through its Africa Magic channels, continues to recognize excellence in African film and television, bringing together the industry’s top talent. This year’s event highlighted the depth and diversity of African storytelling, with Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi (The Uprising) also receiving multiple wins.
