A resident of Temidire Community of Centre-Igboro area of Ilorin, Kwara state, Abdulkadir Azeez, has approached an Area Court in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, to seek the dissolution of his four-year-old marriage with his wife, named Rukayat Abdulkadir over allegations of infidelity.

Abdulkadir, told the court on Friday that he could no longer continue in the marriage, which he described as “broken beyond repair.”

“I have lost trust in her. She has been unfaithful, and I cannot continue living with a woman I no longer respect or feel safe with,” he told the court.

He added that despite multiple efforts to resolve their differences through family interventions, the issues persisted, and he felt emotionally and mentally exhausted.

In her defense, Rukayat denied the allegation of infidelity, insisting that the accusations were baseless and driven by mistrust.

“I have never cheated on my husband. This marriage has had its problems, like any other, but I remain committed to my vows,” she said.

She, however, admitted that the relationship had been strained in recent months and requested time to consult with her family before making any further statements.

The presiding judge, Hammad Ajumobi advised both parties to remain civil and open to possible reconciliation but granted a short adjournment to allow Mrs. Jimoh respond to the charges levelled against her.

The case was adjourned until July 4 for further hearing.
