Baraje empowers constituent with N4m

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Board of Trustees (BoT) and a top chieftain of the party yesterday in Ilorin doled out cash gift to the tune of N4m to empower his constituents.
The gesture was part of measures to complete the massive effort of the Senate President and leader of the party in the state, Dr Bukola Saraki and the administration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed to bring succour to the people of the state in line with their promise.
Beneficiaries of the gesture which cut across all the wards in Magaji Ngeri constituency included politicians, transporters, party elders, ward chairmen, students and individual assistance and empowerment.
Speaking at the occasion which held at his GRA residence, Ilorin, Baraje noted that the gesture has nothing to do with politics but a resolve to the little they can do in whatever capacity to assist the people.
He said he had embarked on the empowerment of his constituent since 2008 quietly but noted that recent development in the polity necessitated resolve to create awareness over the issue especially to reply critics.
He said other party leaders will also carry out the gesture in their constituencies for the overall benefit of the people.
“This has been a monthly routine since 2008 when I was the National Secretary of the PDP and it has continued ever since even while I was not in position.
“It is not about politics or about me looking for governor in 2019 but about critics who loved to erroneously question what we have done to add value to the lives of the people. This is a delicate period. Anybody that has been destined to be the governor of the state will, whether anybody likes it or not or carry out empowerment or not because nobody can stop the decree of Allah (SWT) on his servants.
“We the foot soldiers of the structure have resolved to be having this across our constituencies to further encourage the Senate President to continue to do more”.
In his speech, the representative of the Senate President and Director-General of ABS, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi described the event as “mother of all empowerment” that has direct bearing with the lives of the people.
He charged them to make judicious use of the gesture and continue to work for the progress of the party by convincing the opposition that the APC still remain the party that can guarantee them good governance.
Some of the beneficiaries got N.5m for orthopedic surgery, N.5m for party elders, N1m for 33 Imams and N300,000 for transporters among others.
