Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc last week paid indemnity on an employee of the Kwara State Road Traffic Management Authority (KWARTMA), Ahmed Saheed Orere, who lost his life while on duty four months ago.

While presenting the cheque to the deceased’s father, Mr Ajadi Orere, at KWARTMA office, the Marketing Manager of the insurance company, Mrs Ifeoma Judo said the money should be judiciously used to cater for the needs of Ahmed’s immediate family.

She said, “for a while, our company has been compensating clients in Kwara State over their losses, part of which we are doing today.

“We came to present a claim cheque of N620, 000 to Ahmed Saheed Orere who was involved in an accident which unfortunately claimed his life.

“KWARTMA has an insurance backup for its staff and we have had a cordial relationship with the agency since its inception as this is the second case of indemnifying a deceased staff of the commission.”

Judo however advised the people of the state on the need to embrace insurance policies.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer, KWARTMA, Alhaji Yekini Babatunde Bello said, “we have been with the insurance company for a while now and they have not disappointed us. We went teamed up with Sovereign Insurance due to the hazardous nature of our job. This is the second time we have had death incidence since inception of this organisation in 2010.”

While receiving the cheque on behalf of the family, Mr Orere appreciated the management of KWARTMA and the insurance company for the gesture while pledging prudent use of the money.

26-year-old Ahmed Orere, a level 4 officer of KWARTMA, died in a road accident at Bode-Saadu, Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State in January. He is survived by his wife and a two-year-old son.
