Engine Lubricant Dealers (ELD) branch of NUPENG in Kwara State have expressed frustration over inability to access loans from the state government.
Speaking toย Pilot Businessย on Friday, the state Chairman, Comrade Jimoh Olusola complained that several attempts by the association to access government loan through the Ministry of Commerce and Cooperatives over the past years, have proved abortive.
“The state government under the leadership of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed has been empowering individuals and business associations with soft loans to enhance economic activities.
“As an association, we applied for the loan through the Ministry of Commerce and Cooperative but yet to get the loan.
The Chairman who spoke through the secretary of the Union, Comrade Toyin Abojumeji decried the bottlenecks in accessing the loan.
We have been processing a particular loan since last year and we were told to apply with the name of the union, when we did, they later directed us to apply individually and apply with the union name again.
“The ministry later told us to direct our letter to the state Governor, which we did and to our knowledge, the Governor approved the loan but since then, we have not heard anything.
According to him, the new Commissioner, Mr. Julius Agboola has promised to address the issue appropriately, expressing optimism that members will access the loan soon.
Efforts to get the Commissioner of Commerce and Cooperative on the issue proved abortive as his mobile phone number was switched off at the time of filing this report.
