A football competition organised by an amateur football club, Excel All Stars among professionals from various fields will begin in Ilorin on Sat. July 22, at pitches of Kwara Football Academy (KFA).
Briefing newsmen on Tuesday in Ilorin, the President of Excel All Stars, Alhaji Olaide Ahmed, said the tournament was put together to foster unity among working class professionals in the state.
He explained that the competition was also organized for participating professionals to make new friends with the aim of connecting for business purposes.
Ahmed said his club is made up of professionals from various fields, including lawyers, Engineers, Doctors, Journalists, business moguls among others.
The Excel President explained that members of the club who wished to join their professional sides for the competition can do so while others will don the colors of the club.
“Many of us don’t plan to exercise our body system even for our daily routines.
“I am sure we would have convinced one person or the other to begin to exercise their body after the tournament.
“We at Excel All Stars, come together every Saturday to play football to get ready for the week ahead mentally and physically.
“We want to make it an annual competition but let us see to the success of the maiden edition first” Ahmed said.
The Excel President said two teams from his club, Excel Gold and Diamond will take part in the competition.
According to Ahmed, other participating teams are Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Kwara branch, Kwara Bankers Forum, Kwara Inland Revenue Service (KWIRS) and Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) Kwara branch.
