The management of University of Ilorin has debunked rumour that a 200 Level student, Aisha Kuranga that was earlier declared missing had been found.
The female student of Department of Educational Technology was said to have been seen last on campus Tuesday at about 7pm.
Speaking with our medium on yesterday, the Director Corporate Affairs of the institution, Kunle Akogun said the public should disregard the fake news that has gone viral on social media that the missing student was sighted at Lanfewa police station at Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He said the school management upon receiving the news had sent delegates to Abeokuta where it was discovered that the online report was false.
” We didn’t want to take chances, so the management sent down delegates to Abeokuta to but on getting to the police station, it was discovered that the lady there was not our student and the police officers at the station said parents of the said girl has shown up to claim her,” explained.
Akogun assured that management will collaborate with security agents to ensure that the missing students return safely.
“Our student is still missing and the authority is working in conjunction with the police and not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that she is found,” he stated.
Meanwhile, a friend of the missing girl, who craved anonymity told this medium that the girl upon her return to the hostel after she finished her examination on Tuesday, informed her roommates that she wanted to get some items and has not been seen since then.
