12-yr-old girl kidnapped in Ilorin, escapes in Ekiti

A twelve-year-old girl, Tawa Taiwo, who was reportedly kidnapped in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital has escaped from her abductors in Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The teenager was said to have escaped from her captors on Monday.
A resident of Oye-Ekiti, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Tawa was roaming the streets of Oye-Ekiti and was questioned by residents.
The source said: “We saw her roaming around and her outlook resembled somebody that was frightened.
“Our curiosity was aroused by the fact that she was moving around as at a time pupils of her age are in their various schools.
“She said her name was Tawa and her father’s name was Taiwo and that she was kidnapped from Ilorin and later abandoned at Ayede-Ekiti from where she trekked to Oye-Ekiti.”
The girl could not give further details of how her family members could be reached to reunite her with them.
Tawa, at the time of filing this report, was in custody at Oye-Ekiti Police Station from where she will be taken to the Kwara State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Ilorin.
However, when contacted on the mobile phone yesterday, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in the state, Hajia Taibat Ahmed said that she is yet to receive any missing girl inher office inIlorin.
Also, the Public Relations Officer of Kwara State Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi said, “I’m not aware of the incident as the case has not been reported to me yet.”
