2019: Kwara First Lady presents gifts to babies of the year
Wife of the Kwara State Governor, Deaconess Omolewa Ahmed has honoured first babies of the year 2019 in various hospitals across the state with presentation of gifts.
Various gift items and cash were donated to the mothers of first baby of the year, at the General Hospital Ilorin, the state capital.
The first baby of the year, was born at the state General Hospital Ilorin, around 12:05am of new year to Mrs Olarewaju Mujeedat
A total number of five children were born at the state general hospital Ilorin, while four children were born at the Cottage Hospital, Tsaragi in Edu Local Government area of the state.
The First Lady was accompanied during the tour by the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Taibat Alake Ahmed; Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Opeloyeru and other top government functionaries.
The team also visited Offa General Hospital and presented gifts to new babies of the year.
Deaconess Ahmed, while presenting gifts to parents of babies of the year enjoined parents and guardians to constantly ask for God’s guidance and protection over their wards.
Mrs Ahmed, while congratulating the families of new born babies in the state, expressed excitement that the beginning of the new year recorded many new born, praying for God’s continuous blessing for the babies and their parents.
In her remarks, the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajia Taibat Ahmed congratulated the families of new born babies for the blessings of God and prayed God to grant their babies long life and prosperity.
Speaking at the psychiatric home, Olounda, the commissioner advised youths against drug abuse.
She praised the state government for its support to such centre and others with the same mission.
Some of the families of the new born babies in their separate responses expressed appreciation to the governor’s wife, praying that God will continue to bless her family.
