The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) last Thursday stormed the Kwara State Ministry of Finance and whisked away the Director of Main Accounts simply identified as Mr Sardauna.

Also arrested by the anti-graft agency is the Chief Security of the ministry and two female security guards from Skyboss; Mariam Adisa and one Fatimah.

An eyewitness told this medium that the EFCC team numbering about eight and armed with guns stormed the ministry around 11am in a black hummer bus.

The source said, “We saw the EFCC men wearing red reflective jackets and immediately they alighted from the bus, they threatened all the staff of the Ministry to put their handsets in their pockets and ordered them not to receive or make calls.

“They asked me where the Accountant General of the Ministry was and I told them that he is not around and that they should call his number. They insisted that we know his whereabouts and the EFCC men grabbed the two of us by the clothes and said that we are frustrating their efforts before they whisked us away.

“They also invited a Director in the ministry and asked him to follow them to their office since the Accountant General was not on seat.”

According to the source, when they got to the EFCC office located at GRA, they were questioned and warned never to stand in the way if their operations again before being released.

He added that Sardauna (Director) and one other staff of the Ministry were still at the EFCC office.

Similarly, another source told this medium that the EFCC officials denied him entrance into the ministry premises even though his wife who was in the car with him as at the time of the incident, works there.

“I learnt that the men of the EFCC are moving around government offices picking top officials for questioning,” he said.

When our reporter visited the EFCC office around 03:40pm last Thursday, he was directed to see one of the staff at the reception after collecting his mobile phone.

The staff who attended to our reporter simply said, “We don’t attend to the media at the state office here as our work is to arrest and probe.  You can Google our website to contact our media handler or link up with your colleagues in Abuja to get you appropriate response.

However, when contacted, yesterday, the Senior Special Assistant to Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed on Media and Communications,  Dr.  Muyideen Akorede simply said he is not aware of any such incident.
