He gave the charge during a paper presentation at the 24th Media Parliament of the Kwara State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), held at the Pen House, Offa road, G.R.A, Ilorin, the state capital, recently.

The tax management consultant stressed that the incoming government need to explore revenue potentials of the state to ensure a sustainable economic development.

He pointed out that the state has the potential to generate about 500 million naira monthly from the core revenue generating sectors alone without annexing tertiary institutions and other parastatals.

Jawondo, however, advised the Governor -Elect, Alhaji Abdulraman Abdulrazaq to set up an economic think tank that will hit the ground running immediately after taking over power.

Jawondo said, “The incoming government as a matter of priority should set up an economic think tank committee for every sector with the mandate to interface with the communities and conceive workable ideas and strategies that can bring development to the state.

The committee should also consist of technocrats, political leaders, academicians and other relevant stakeholders. The government should appoint those that can add value to the system of government in order to deliver democratic dividend to the people of Kwara in no distant time.”

He emphasised the urgent need to effectively move the state forward for all round development.

For viable economy, he charged the incoming administration to revitalise moribund companies to strengthen the manufacturing sector of the state.

According to him, the state has favourable climate for industries to thrive given the increasing population size, its geopolitical location and peaceful atmosphere.

He added, “Both local and foreign investors would prefer to locate their industries in Kwara State if all the infrastructural challenges are addressed.”

Earlier, the state NUJ Chairman, Mallam Umar Abdulwahab explained that the media Parliament, 24th in its series, was introduced by the state Council to provide avenue for those who are exceptional in their careers to share their experiences with the public through an interface with media practitioners in the state.
