Club Owners condemn attack on Delta Force FC boss
The Football Club Owners Association of Nigeria (Club Owners) have described as barbaric and unfortunate an attack on one of its members Mr. Chidi Okonkwo, the chairman of Delta Force FC of Asaba at FC Ifeanyiubah stadium in Nnewi.
The Delta Force boss was reportedly attacked by a player Uche Nwogu of FC Ifeanyiubah who was also a former player of Delta Force FC over alleged disagreement on issues of unpaid remunerations by his former club.
After a review of the report of the incident, Club Owners condemned the action of the said player and demanded that the player be sanctioned by the Management of FC Ifeanyiubah and the League Management company LMC to serve as deterrent to other players who might want to attempt such unsportsmanlike behavior.
According to a statement by the club Owners jointly signed by the chairman Barr. Isaac Danladi and the Executive Secretary Alloy Chukwuemeka, the Association said it will not tolerate from anyone or group, any molestation or harassment of its members because they are honourable gentlemen carrying out their duties diligently and professionally without fear or favour.
It would be recalled that the ugly incident occurred during the NPFL match day 17 match between FC Ifeanyiubah and Delta Force FC, where the player alongside some miscreants forcefully attacked the Delta Force Chairman and dispossessed him of some valuables.
