FG economic policies causing hardship for masses – C&S Leader, Abidoye

By Joke Adeniyi-Jackson
The recent economic policies of Federal Government are impoverishing
the lives of most Nigerians.
This was the submission of the Spiritual Father and Chairman, Cherubim
and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide, Most Reverend Samuel Adefila
Abidoye.
He stated this at the press conference ahead of the 79th International
Conference/Convention, held at Galilee land, Orile Igbon, Oyo State,
on Wednesday.
He decried the economic policies of the government such as increase on
Value Added Tax (VAT), reintroduction of tollgate, banking charges,
among others which amount to indirect multiple taxation.
The cleric also noted that the closure of borders is having
“devastating effects on millions of Nigerians especially as it relates
to sudden high prices of foodstuffs like rice and daily
Consumables. ”
He therefore urged the government to reverse or ‘relax’ some of the
policies towards ameliorating the hardship currently faced by
Nigerians.
Abidoye, however, called on government at all levels to vigorously
embark on dry season irrigation farming to further boost food
production in the country.
He urged government to ensure adequate preservation of agricultural
produces to avoid waste especially after being harvested so that there
would be food all year round, adding that Nigerians should not be
starving if agriculture had really been accorded the right priority.
He commiserated with various communities and individuals affected by
flood across the country and implored government to take decisive
steps towards guiding against such occurrence especially those that
are avoidable in the subsequent years.
Prophet Abidoye called on the Federal Government to address the issue
of security affecting the nation among others.
The Spiritual Father commended the National Assembly members for
reverting to the old system of budgeting and implementation starting
from January to December annually, tasking government to ensure
sincere implementation after its passage to bring smile on the faces
of Nigerians.
However, the Cleric noted that this year’s Conference themed “Web of
glory” and would feature ordination of over one thousand members as
Special Apostle, lectures and special prayers for the nation among
other activities.
The conference will start on the 3rd of November and end on the 10th
of the same month at Galilea Land.
